An embedded controller is electronic equipment that is part of a larger system whose primary purpose is not control oriented. For example, weighing systems, high-speed sheet metal fabrication equipment, and four-color printing presses have little in common, but each is run by a customized controller which is an integral part of the total system.
The design and development of custom embedded controllers for machinery and manufacturing processes is a primary focus at Barrett Engineering. Following are some examples of the types of controllers that we have designed.
The EC 3000 is an embedded controller designed to direct the operation of automated machinery. When programmed with an operating sequence, the microcomputer based technology provides flexible and accurate control of a wide variety of industrial processes.

The Autopak 3000 is a system controller specifically designed to direct the operation of automated bag, FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container), and rigid container filling machines. The Autopak 3000 provides flexible and accurate control of a wide variety of packaging systems.
The Autopak 1900 is an analog weigh system controller specifically designed to direct the operation of simple lever-arm-actuated bag filling machines. A magnet on the weight sending arm activates a reed switch which is monitored by the controller. Desired weight setting and compensation for free fall are provided through the two front panel potentiometer controls.
The PAC 21 Conversion Kit is a complete, quick to install upgrade for existing auger, air, impeller, pump, vacuum, and FIBC filling machines. This upgrade kit can provide the customer with essentially a new scale and control system at far less than the cost of a completely new packing system.
